We are planning a trip to DisneyWorld for our son's 5th birthday on 4/12/09 but were recently told this might be a bad time to visit due to crowds. Which week in April would you recommend?

Melissa, how exciting to be celebrating your son's birthday at WDW in April.  I have been several weeks in April and what may help you out is that the week you are looking at is after many spring breaks and it is after Easter.  The week of Easter is historically very crowded but the week after really might not be that bad.  Why I can not guarantee what the crowds will look like this particular week, I think you really should be fine.  I have been that week and we found the crowds and the weather to be perfect!
Some tips that might help should there be crowds, remember Magic Kingdom is typically more crowded on Mondays, those parks with extra magic hours tend to be more crowded on those specific days and if there are crowds ... take full advantage of Fast Passes.  I hope you all have a magical trip in April.
