We are planning a trip to Disneyland in 3 weeks, but my son will be in a cast then. Can he still enjoy the rides?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Deana. I'm so sorry to hear your son is injured and needs to be in a cast. As a pediatric RN, I've cared for numerous children in casts. I understand the physical pain the child has to endure, and the activity restrictions that follow.

But don't fret, Deana. Your upcoming trip will still be a magical, unforgettable trip for your son. Be sure to first check with your son's doctor to ensure he has medical clearance. We want to make sure he can safely enjoy his time at the Happiest Place on Earth!

I'm unsure whether your son has an arm cast or leg cast. I encourage you to take a look at the page dedicated to Guests with Disabilities on the Disneyland Resort website. Disney Parks create unique ways for all Guests to feel included, whether one has a cognitive disability, needs to use a wheelchair, or has a cast. However, since you do not want to get the cast wet, riding Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Run should be discouraged. If you have any questions or concerns about your son riding attractions in a cast, friendly Cast Members at Guest Services can provide guidance.

I hope this information is helpful. Don't let this hiccup deter your family from having an amazing time at the Disneyland Resort. I bet you'll create unforgettable memories! If you have further questions, please visit us on the Panel again.

Sending you Pixie Dust for a speedy recovery,

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

I am a wife and mother to 2 children, a 14 year old daughter and 9 year old son. I have always enjoyed going to Disneyland Resort as a child and now that I am a mother, I love watching my children experience Disneyland Resort through their eyes. It is a true delight seeing my daughter wear a ball gown walking side by side with Cinderella or my son jumping gleefully after he defeated Darth Maul in a light saber duel! Learn More About Kiki
