    Dawn from WI Asked

I am planning a trip to Disney with my 2yr old in October. What is the best Disney resort in regards to ease of getting to the parks since we'll need to return for naps. We were looking at Port Orleans but are open to pricier options if they are best.

    Dawn:

If you are planning on spending most of your time at the Magic Kingdom, I would recommend looking at either the Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge. You are a 20-minute ride away from the Magic Kingdom on its monorail that whisks through the lobby or a pleasant, 10-minute walk to its gates. Wilderness Lodge provides boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom and can be a pleasant way to "rock" your child to sleep on the return ride back to the resort.

If you're looking at splitting your time equally between all of the theme parks and plan on visiting Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, you might want to consider the Boardwalk-area resorts of the Boardwalk Inn or the Beach & Yacht Club which are both a 5-minute walk to Epcot and a 15-minute walk or boat ride to DHS. If you're looking for a room rate comparable to Port Orleans, consider the Swan or Dolphin hotels that are in the Boardwalk area. Keep in mind, though, that the popular Food & Wine festival will be going on during your stay and so rooms tend to book up fast and may not see discounted rates.

At Disney, time is money and proximity means time, so you'll definitely pay more for these resorts than you would Port Orleans. However, being near your room for nap times can make your vacation much more pleasant for both your two-year-old AND you.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
