We are planning a trip to Disney World in September with our two sons 6 and 4. We would like to go to a dinner show, which would you recommend Spirit of Aloha or Hoop Dee Doo Revue?

With young boys, I would very strongly recommend the Hoop Dee Doo Revue over the Spirit of Aloha luau. Here's why:

The luau is a show about dance ... lots and lots of dance. There is a very thin plot about a girl who has left the island coming back to her roots. The dancing is interesting, but my girls, who are all about dance at home, found it to be repetitive after a while. The only audience participation part of the luau is one song where guests are invited to come onto the stage to hula.

The HDDR is much more boisterous and silly. The Pioneer Hall Players put on a show with lots of jokes that are just the right level for a six-year-old to really "get." Many of the songs sung during the show will be familiar to your kids: the Hokey Pokey and This Land is Your Land. The audience participation is lots of clapping, stomping, and cheering. (Good for kids who need to blow off a little steam.) Also, toward end, four volunteers are needed to have real roles in the show. One of the volunteers chosen is always a 4-6 year old boy. If your sons raise their hands high enough, maybe one of them will be up on stage with the Players.

Also, I happen to much prefer the food at the HDDR -- but that's just me.

I hope you have a great time at the show!
