Hello! We are planning a trip to Disney World in October 2016. My son will be 4 years old, and I am concerned about his magic band. Are they sturdy enough to stay on the wrist at that age or would you recommend something else?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kimberly!

I love using MagicBands during a vacation at Walt Disney World Resort! Our day is so much easier as my husband and I aren't constantly getting everyone's theme park tickets out for park admission and FastPass+ queues. Instead, everyone's theme park tickets, FastPass+ reservations, Memory Maker account access and Walt Disney World Resort hotel room key is right on our wrists! I have two preschool-aged sons and we have successfully used MagicBands with both of them on several trips. You will find that on the outside of the colored section of your MagicBands is a dark grey portion. This dark grey section is removable and allows the MagicBand to be permanently adjusted to fit small size wrists. Once that section is removed, your MagicBands will get very small, so small that I've even seen them fit infant wrists. Both of my sons require this grey portion to be removed so their MagicBands are small enough to stay on their wrists comfortably without being able to fall off.

My older son wears his MagicBand all day without any issues and scans for his own FastPass+ reservations just fine. My younger son sometimes likes to take his off and play with it. In that case, either my husband and I will hold his band for him. Since I have small wrists, sometimes I wear his band on my opposite wrist as my own MagicBand. You can also choose to purchase a MagicBand Keeper, which is a MagicBand accessory in the shape of a Mickey hand or a Minnie bow which will hold a MagicBand and clip onto your belt, stroller or backpack. You can find them at shops all over Walt Disney World Resort and it's a great option for little one's who don't reliably keep their MagicBand on or for anyone who doesn't care to wear one!

    T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
