We are planning trip to Disney world this fall for our family of six (kids are 8, 5, 3, 1). I was set on AofA because of the family suites, but because of the special, we could get a room at the YC for the same price. Would this be big enough for us?

    Hi Bridget!

The standard room at the Yacht Club resort is 380 square feet. The normal max occupancy for the standard room is 5 guests, but with small children, you may be able to fit that extra person in :-) Most rooms have 2 queen-sized beds, and if you request a room that comes with a daybed, that may give you the extra wiggle room you need to fit 6 people in there. By comparison, the Art of Animation family suite rooms are about 520 square feet, so the extra space helps when you have a larger family.

I think at the end of the day consider how much time you plan to spend in the room. If you and your family plan to spend considerable time at the Parks, Downtown Disney, and resort premises, then staying in the room itself may serve nothing more than a good place to place your head (size then becomes less of an issue). But if you think you may spend considerable time in your resort room, space is a premium, and I would take a second look at the Art of Animation family suite rooms or maybe even club-level rooms at the Yacht Club.

    Good Luck!
