Grand Floridian Pool

I am planning a trip to Disney for my family. What is the best resort for a 2 year old and an infant? We are hoping for great character dining options and maybe a baby pool that allows swim diapers. Early evening activities or shows would also be a bonus!

    Hi Michelle!

There are so many great choices for resorts when looking at a Walt Disney World vacation. With the ages of your children I would suggest you consider booking one of the Magic Kingdom resorts. These are the resorts that are linked with the Magic Kingdom theme park via monorail making them easy to go to and from each day. The Magic Kingdom Park will be the draw for your age children so making that your central location is the best plan when possible.

The Grand Floridian Resort is a gorgeous resort on property and offers two nice swim areas for the children. That will include a great splash area for them as well as actual pools.

There are several character options among the three resorts on the monorail loop so any of them would be easy access for you. The Grand Floridian will have the 1900 Park Fare character event that includes Alice, the Mad Hatter, and others. The Contemporary Resort is another great choice although I don’t love their swimming facility as much as the other resorts. The rooms tend to be a bit bigger and they host the best character dining event on property in my eyes. Chef Mickey is the one place where you can enjoy a great buffet as well as meet and greet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto.

The third Magic Kingdom resort is the Polynesian and although most guests love the atmosphere of being in the south seas islands it remains my number three choice. The pool is lovely and their character dining is O’Hanas.

All of the Disney Resorts will have movies under the stars and many will have nightly campfires. When you check in you will receive the movie schedule as well as the recreation schedule of activities for your stay. The music in the Grand Floridian lobby each evening is enough to draw me there for my stay. All of the Disney Resorts will offer a magical vacation!
