We are planning a trip to Disney and can't decide if we should stay at a value/moderate resort. It will be my husband, me & 2 kids. Are the rooms clean, roomy, nice and how is the food at the value vs moderate? Are the value far away from the parks?

First, we have found all the rooms we stayed at while visiting WDW to be clean and nice, and the value and moderate resorts (rather than the deluxe resorts) were ones that sometimes gave us little surprises in the rooms with towel animals.  The value resorts will have smaller rooms and only a food court to eat at.  The moderate resorts have a lounge, a table service restaurant and food court, a pool with a slides, a refrigerator and coffee maker (these can be obtained by request at a value resort), and stronger theming.  Other than the option of visiting a table service restaurant, we didn't notice a difference in the food quality.  As for the distance, this is more difficult to say since the moderate resorts are in different places. but neither of the resorts are in close proximity to a park like the deluxe resorts are.  If you think you will only be sleeping in the resort, it may not be worth the extra money.  If you want to enjoy some time at the resort for dining and swimming, the moderates may be a better choice.
