Hi moms! We are planning a trip with 5yo DD in May. Could you give me advice on the best way to do Mickey's Backyard BBQ, pony rides at Ft Wilderness & the campfire with Chip & Dale. Are they close in proximity to walk to each of them?

    Maria:

Although Mickey's Backyard Barbecue begins at 6:30 p.m., the pony rides at Fort Wilderness stop at 5:00 p.m., so make sure that you arrive in plenty of time if that's a must-do on your list.  The pony rides are 50 yards from the barbecue pavilion.

So what to do with that gap of time between the pony ride and the barbecue? Well, first, I recommend that you get in line for the barbecue no later than 6:00 because seating is first-come, first-served. So you really only have one hour to kill. This can easily be filled by taking a tour of the nearby stables that house the beautiful horses from Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. There is also the trading post to browse through and a play area for kids.

Chip 'n' Dale's campfire singalong begins at 8 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time. You can definitely do both the campfire and the barbecue if you don't feel the need to dance with Mickey all night. You can catch the Yellow Line bus from the bus stop near the stables and pavilion for a 5-minute ride to the 1500 loop/campfire stop. From there, follow the path to the right of the tennis courts to the ampitheater. You could walk from the barbecue but there is not a clear path. The show starts promptly, so give yourself a good 20-minutes once you leave the pavilion.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
