Planning a trip for a Christmas stay in Disney, can anyone tell me which are the best resorts to stay in during this time? Will be traveling with Children 5 yrs and under with a group of about 11 family members. How far in advance can you book?

Christmas is an extra-magical time of year at Disney World no matter your age! And if you're going the busy week between Christmas and New Year's, it's never too early to make a reservation. As of today, you can book up until December 31, 2009. And when you book, let Disney know the size of your group, as they consider you a Grand Gathering and eligible for special experiences.

Personally, I've visited during the Christmas season three times, and my favorite resort was the Fort Wilderness cabins. It's unique because families bring their own decorations to light up their cabins and campsites! If you and your little ones enjoy looking at Christmas lights, it's a lot of fun. Plus, the cabins give your children plenty of space to run around, and you can put them to bed in the bedroom while the adults visit in the spacious living/kitchen area.

If a "rustic" Christmas is not what you had in mind, consider the Deluxe resorts which go the extra mile when it comes to decorating. When my children were pre-schoolers, our trip was made on a shoe-string budget, so we simply visited the lobbies of a few resorts. There was a chocolate village on display in the middle of the Boardwalk Inn's lobby! What a memory maker!

This year, the lobby of the Grand Floridian sported a giant gingerbread house and the Beach Club housed a gingerbread carousel! No matter your budget, you can get into the spirit of the season at Disney World!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
