We are planning a trip from Canada to DL in 2021. We would like to spend 10 days in the park. How would reservation days work if we bought 10 days worth of tickets with max pass and traded for AP (flex) at the ticket booth? We hope to return for a 2nd trip

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Natalie!

It sounds like you have a lot of magic planned! I’m excited about your plans to visit the Disneyland Resort. I know you will have an amazing time.

Upgrading regular theme park tickets to Annual Passports can be done at a Main Entrance ticket booth or within the Disneyland mobile app. Note that when upgrading to an Annual Passport, tickets may not be combined. Therefore, the maximum number of regular ticket days available to use toward an Annual Passport upgrade will be five.

If you pre-purchase a Disney Flex Passport instead of upgrading a regular ticket, you may make reservations for up to two days at a time before your first visit to the theme parks. Those reservations may be made up to 30 days in advance. Then, as you use each of those days, you may make additional reservations so that you continue to have up to two days at a time reserved. That same two-days-at-a-time reservation approach would also apply if you upgrade regular tickets to a Flex Passport.

Note that available reservations may be limited. So there is a chance that reservations won’t be available by the time you are eligible to make additional reservations. In the short history of the Flex Passport, there have not been very many days that have run out of available reservations. So this approach might work out. Just be prepared to consider an alternative approach. That might be to either purchase two sets of five-day tickets, knowing that one set of tickets may not be upgraded to Flex Passports, or perhaps upgrading your tickets or your Flex Passports to a higher level of Annual Passports such as Disney Deluxe Passports or Disney Signature Passports.

Tony’s Tip: You have a great approach with purchasing your tickets with Disney MaxPass already included. That is because the entire original amount paid for your theme park tickets can be applied toward an upgrade. If you were to purchase tickets without MaxPass but then decided to add MaxPass one day at a time to your tickets, those one-day add-ons would not be applicable toward an Annual Passport upgrade.

Natalie, I’m so excited for you to have multiple visits planned for next year. With all the magic coming this year, can you imagine how wonderful it will be by the time you arrive next year? It’s going to be a Fantasmic! time at The Happiest Place on Earth!
