Planning a Spring 2013 Trip. If we book the trip as soon as 2013 packages become available; and then at a later time a special such as 30% off rooms is offered, can we contact an agent to cancel the original reservation and rebook under the new offer?

    Hi, Lori!

That's a great question, and I'm happy to report that you can make changes to a reservation booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company. Certainly, you can cancel and rebook to get the less expensive rate, but you will want to call to make sure that there is availability in the Resort you prefer on your travel dates.

If you don't want to risk the loss of your room by cancelling and rebooking,, consider making an amendment to your reservation. You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. This, according to the Cast Member I spoke to, does apply to discounts; the rate you pay depends on the rate at time of travel, not time of booking,

A  cancellation fee of $200 will be incurred if you cancel 44 days or fewer prior to your trip.

If you make a change that results in a lower rate, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a lower-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.

Most Disney-authorized travel planners, such as Small World Travel, are very good about applying discounts to an existing reservation (this happened to me one year with a cruise booking, and it was delightful surprise!).

    Have a wonderful trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
