Planning a Sept. vacation with parents. Would like to stay at AKL. ? My mom has trouble with oriental food. Even the smell makes her sick. I know this resort has a oriental type restaurant. Does the smell from the restaurant overpower the whole resort?

Hi, Sara!  The two main restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge are Jiko and Boma, neither of which feature Asian cuisine.  Both restaurants have foods with more of an African flair, and if you smell anything from the restaurant, it always seems to remind me of a barbecue more than anything else.

At Kidani Village, home of the Disney Vacation Club's Animal Kingdom Villas, they have recently opened Sanaa, a restaurant that features Indian cuisine.  I have not been to Sanaa yet, but my family and I frequently visit local restaurants that feature food from India, and the aroma is definitely not the same as the local Chinese, Japanese, Thai, or Vietnamese restaurants, so I would think your mom would be fine.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
