we are planning our second trip but since our first only one of us is working we are a family of five and i am looking for the most cost effective way and i am starting to bang my head against the wall any suggestions

    Hi Angela,
I can totally relate to making budget-conscious holiday plans.  Here are some ideas:

First, hotels:  we LOVE the value resorts, and Disney's All-Star Music Resort  has a limited number of 'family suites', which sleep up to 6 guests.  They have a separate bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a pull-out sofa and 2 single sleepers in the living room, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette (which has a fridge and microwave).  The All-Star Music resort is our number one choice.  We love the pools and the wonderful atmosphere.

Having the kitchen will be a BIG plus to saving money. You can save money by making breakfasts, and maybe some lunches or dinners in your room (.it's fun to have sandwiches by the pool at your resort!)  - just plan your days accordingly. Bring your own water bottles to the park.

Regarding souvenirs, I always did my shopping for the kids before I got to the parks...check out your local Disney store (sale racks!) and then pack your treats in your suitcase.  Your kids will love their new souvenirs and will not care where they were bought!

Consider if you really need a park pass for every day you are there.  You could easily play for a day or more in your resort, by the pool, and elsewhere on Disney property.  There are lots of FREE things to do around the World - just Google 'Free things to do at Disney World' to find hundreds of ideas.   Consider too that the less options you get on your park passes, the less expensive they will be (if you don't need park hopper or waterpark options, you can save money).

Angela, what really counts is the time with your family.  No need to bang your head against the wall - what you will remember years from now is your precious time together.
