We are planning our second trip to DW in Oct, 2013 with 2 adults and 3 children (11,8, 6). What are the pros and cons of staying at resort on the monorail vs. Art of Animation? I've read different opinions on the transportation time from AA to the parks.

Heidi,  this is a great question and one I am sure many people consider when planning their trip to the Walt Disney World Resort.  In fact, my family had stayed in many resorts on property but never on the monorail line.  When we finally did, my husband was hooked!  He loved the convenience especially since we still had a child in a stroller and you don't have to break down the stroller when entering the monorail like you do when you get on a bus! This is huge if you have a sleeping child zonked from a long day in the parks.

While the it is convenient, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are only accessible by bus from those hotels on the monorail line.  Just because they are on the monorail line does not mean that at certain times of the day you won't have to wait in a long queue and may even have to wait for more than one monorail.

The Art of Animation is a fabulous option for families with three or four children because of the family suites.  I, too, have three kids and this resort appeals highly too us, despite our love of the monorail. These suites have such great space and value for the cost!  Yes, the Art of Animation is only accessible by bus, but the resort is closest to Hollywood Studios and Epcot, as well as the Wide World of Sports!

No matter where you stay, there will always be busy times for transportation and you could wait for more than one round of people getting on and off.  So, I would suggest closely considering which parks you will frequent in order to choose wisely the resort that best benefits you.  I hope this helped in some way.

Have a magical time and feel free to stop by with more questions!  We're here to help.
