Planning to be in the parks 12-14 Jan 2019, but noticed the Disney hotel rates are twice as high on Sunday as they are on Saturday. Am I arriving during some sort of special event or crowded date? I planned specifically to avoid crowds & am worried.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Christina!

I'm so glad that you are planning your January getaway well in advance. I'm not yet aware of any specific events happening January 12th through the 14th as the Holidays will end a week or so before and the Lunar New Year celebration typically starts near the end of the month. Hotel rates can fluctuate by date, but I suggest searching again. I took a look at rates today for your travel dates and it appeared that a Sunday arrival was actually a little less expensive than a Saturday arrival.

Also, don't be too worried about crowd levels because if you employ a few tried and true strategies, you can navigate the parks efficiently no matter how many other Guests are enjoying the parks on the days you are visiting. First, arrive at the parks as early as possible and take advantage of any early admission options you have available to you. If you book a stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, then you will have access to Extra Magic Hour every day of your trip. Next, plan to use Disney FASTPASS Service to skip most of the queue on select attractions. You can save even more time by upgrading to the Disney MaxPass option which allows you to make FASTPASS selections on your mobile device using the Disneyland app.

If you have any other questions as you plan your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth, please stop by again!
