Hi! I am planning on going to MK and AK in mid November with my 18 month old. I am looking for guidance on where to stay and the best way to get to and from the parks. I know some hotels have bus transportation but what do we do about a car seat? Thx!

    Hi Jackie,

I'm a huge advocate of giving toddlers the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World. Not only can they benefit from the amazing array of sensory experiences, but it's just so darn fun to watch them interact with everything around them!

With respect to your first question, you really can't go wrong with any of the resort hotels on property at Walt Disney World. Each one has great theming, is family friendly, and offers easy access to the theme parks.

Considering the fact that you're only planning to visit the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom, it might make the most sense to consider the resort hotels in those vicinities.

For easy access to the Magic Kingdom, you can't beat the convenience offered by Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Resort, or Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. If you're planning to spend more time at Disney's Animal Kingdom instead, then Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge will be a perfect choice.

As for the buses, you asked a great question. This may sound unusual, but you'll be fine to take your child on the Disney buses without a car seat.

Just like most public transit buses, the Disney buses don't have seat belts or latches to anchor a car seat. Instead, my advice would be to hold your child in your lap.

Here's an interesting nugget from your buddy Derek:

What's unique about the buses at Walt Disney World is how quickly other passengers will offer up their seats to mothers with young children when the bus is crowded. Sure, I've seen exceptions, but the guests on Disney buses are way more friendly than what I've seen on any other public transit system.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
