Planning for a group trip, if someone reserves all the rooms how does Disney know who is staying in each individual room?

Thank you for swinging by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question, Keely! How wonderful to hear you are considering staying at a Disney Resort! With so many benefits offered to its guests and such variety to choose from, you will never want to stay elsewhere

I am usually the one booking all the rooms for my extended family. You can do this either online or over the phone. If doing it online, the system will prompt you to list the names of each person staying in each room. My personal preference, though, is to do it over the phone because I feel that if I have a question and can ask right there. In the same way, the Cast Member assisting you will ask you to provide a list of guests staying in each room. Be sure to tell them that all parties are traveling together so that they can try and assign rooms that are close by. Remember that if you are all connected to each other through My Disney Experience, you will be able to have common plans.

However, once you arrive, you can still modify that room configuration at check-in; they will link up each guest's MagicBand to open the door of the room they're staying in. My oldest son, for instance, was going to be in my room with my husband, my youngest son, and myself originally. However, he decided last minute that he wanted to stay in my mom's and dad's room, so his MagicBand had to be updated at the lobby to open that one room.

Keely, I hope this helps! Please come see us again with any other questions you may have.

Wishing you the most pixie-dusted vacation,

    ~Desiree

Meet the Panelist: Desiree, Peru

Hi! I'm Desiree from Lima, Peru. My family will never ever tire of visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, even if means traveling almost 3,000 miles to do so! My husband and I love to watch the fireworks with our kids, but the best magic happens when the grandparents come along and we all feel the same age in front of Cinderella Castle! I love giving tips about different types of resorts and traveling with multigenerational groups.
