Planning to go to Disney for the first time ever for my entire family in early April 2013! Family of 6 (4 adults, and 2 daughters, 7 and 2). I have absolutely no idea where to start. I've looked at so many things online, but get very overwhelmed. Help!

Hi Amanda!  I totally understand how planning a trip can be overwhelming but once you begin you will see it is easy and will end up being magical.

You have your dates so now pick your resort. I strongly recommend a Disney resort for the added benefits such as Extra Magic Hours and Magical Express service to and from the airport. You have three categories from Deluxe being the most expensive to Moderate to Value which will be the cheapest rooms per night. All will include Disney transportation for the parks with some of the Deluxe resorts being within walking distance.

Now check out the park calendars at www.disneyworld.com. See the hours that they are predicting during your stay. Choose one park a day to visit unless you add the park hopper option. I recommend not visiting a park on your arrival day but instead get to know your resort, unpack, and relax before the first big day.

Now look at dining in each park to make a reservation for lunch, dinner or both. I suggest one reservation dining per day with the other meals using the quick service locations on property. We can help with recommendations.

I try to take a park break after two days of them and you can either enjoy a water park, resort pool, and/or Downtown Disney. Just take it easy and recoup from park pace! Then you will be ready to start again on the last two parks. If you have extra days just return to the park of your choice and don't worry about dining. Lots of good food no matter where you go.

Try at least one character dining spot with my favorite being Chef Mickey. You can also check out the added recreation opportunities but that can be done after you have made your week plans for the parks and your dining reservations. We can also help you with this once we know your basic plan. So pick a resort, type of tickets you want, days in the parks, and dining reservations. Then the fun of filling in the details will begin!
