We are planning our first WDW trip in March 2013 with our two boys (2 and 17) and I am wondering if we should really spend the extra money on the water park option during our 8 night stay? Are the water parks a must to get the entire WDW experience?

    Hi Jennifer!

Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel!

My family loves the water parks.  So do I !   It gives us a fun day, or half-day, at somewhere much slower-paced than the theme parks, but with plenty to do - for all ages to enjoy.  I am not very adventurous when it comes to water, but I do enjoy the Surf Pool (shallow end!!) at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and drifting around Castaway Creek.  I also enjoy relaxing on a beach chair with a magazine and a coffee, while my family tours the park.

The same goes for Disney's Blizzard Beach - there is fun for everyone, and there is another opportunity to float along in an inner tube raft in Cross Country Creek, and bob around in Melt-Away Bay.

At both parks there is a safe play area for young children, and much more adventurous attractions for older teenagers.

As an experience, the water parks may not be an absolute necessity, but they are a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a relaxing day, with enough there to spend a whole day if you wish, and we never miss a visit to both parks when we are staying at Walt Disney World Resort.

If you have any other questions, please come back and ask me - I would be happy to help you plan your magical vacation!
