    Hi April,

Congratulations on planning your first trip to Walt Disney World! Four years old is a wonderful age to experience the magic of Disney. At that age, our son loved the monorail!

I would recommend the Polynesian. In fact, I just vacationed there recently again and was reminded of the great stays we've enjoyed there.

While the Contemporary is only a short walk from the Magic Kingdom, the Polynesian is a boat or monorail ride away. And your four-year old is likely to want to ride that monorail often!

The Contemporary also has convention facilities so it sometimes feels less magical to our family due to the guests in business attire.

The Polynesian is very laid back, has torchlit paths at night, a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach (or while swimming in the pool!), a zero-depth entry pool for young waders, large rooms, activities by the pool, etc.

If your family prefers modern decor and more "hustle and bustle" during your trips, then you might want to opt for the Contemporary.

I would recommend the Polynesian, which has great quick-service food at Captain Cook's including self-serve Dole Whips!
