We are planning our first trip to wdw magic kingdom for our son's 1 birthday. We are 5 adults and 1 child (1 year old). We are buying a one day ticket, how does the fastpass work? Is it only for magicbands members?

    Hi Cheila,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. How fun to be planning a trip for your son's first birthday. Magic Kingdom is truly a wonderful place to celebrate! Do be sure to pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for him when you visit Walt Disney World. These are available free of charge at Guest Relations at the Disney theme parks as well as many other locations throughout Walt Disney World.

I have great news for you, Cheila. You do not need to have MagicBands to use the Disney FastPass+ system. If you do not have MagicBands, you will receive a plastic card that is similar to a credit card in size and feel. This can be used to access the Disney FastPass+ system. If you are making your Disney FastPass+ selections from home, be sure to set up a My Disney Experience account. Using this account, you can link your theme park tickets and make Disney FastPass+ selections. If you are wanting to purchase your tickets and use them on the same day, no worries, there are kiosks inside the parks from which you can make Disney FastPass+ selections, and you can also do so from your phone using the My Disney Experience app.

Because your son is under 3 years old, he will not need theme park admission for the Disney theme parks, and therefore you cannot make Disney FastPass+ selections for him. But do not worry! If you have a Disney FastPass+ selection for an attraction, he can also experience it with you as though he had a Disney FastPass+ selection.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Cheila. Have a wonderful time planning your magical vacation, and please do let us know if you have any further questions.
