Hi! I am planning our first trip to WDW. My daughters are 4 & 6. I am very overwhelmed and hate to make decisions so this is going to be tough! Do you have recommendation on times to visit & places to stay?

    Hi Becky,

Many people are overwhelmed by the process of planning their first vacation to Walt Disney World.  That's why the Moms Panel exists.  We're here to help you every step of the way.  Let's get started!

Choosing a time to visit is a good place to begin.  Since your girls are so young, I suggest you visit Walt Disney World during the school year.  The parks are less crowded, temperatures are moderate, and room rates are lower.  Consider mid-fall or early spring.  Personally, I prefer spring time since the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is so beautiful.  Just be sure to avoid the weeks before and after Easter.

As for places to stay, that will largely be guided by your budget.  If staying at a deluxe Disney resort is possible, I highly recommend Disney's Wilderness Lodge.  The theming is gorgeous at this resort and it is only a four-minute bus ride from the Magic Kingdom.  Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a bargain compared to the other deluxe resorts.  If you prefer a moderate resort, choose Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter.  This charming resort is the smallest of the moderates and is a short boat ride away from Downtown Disney.  The Little Mermaid rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort would be a perfect match for a family with two little girls.  The prices are quite good at this Disney value resort.

Once you've decided on dates of travel and a resort, Becky, post a follow-up question and we can talk theme park tickets and dining plans.  Before you know it, your vacation plans will all be in place.

Looking forward to hearing from you again!
