Planning first trip to MK for 1 day with my son - 2yrs. Want to meet Mickey and see the fireworks - haven't bought Fast Ps and I'm a little worried how much time things will take. Are FPs used for the parades and 'works? Highly rec itinerary for 1 day?

Hi Julia! I'm so glad you asked about visiting the Magic Kingdom with your little guy. My son is almost 5, but he's been a Walt Disney World regular since he was only 8 months old, so I have lots of experience going with little ones.

Using Disney FastPass+ service is a great way to help plan your day, and it's included with your park ticket at no extra charge. If you've already bought your tickets, download the My Disney Experience app to your mobile device and link your tickets (the app will guide you). Then, select "FastPass+" in the menu and start making your selections. You can make up to three in advance, and add more in the park after you've used them.

There's a wonderful meet-and-greet with Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater near the front of the park that's available as a FastPass+ selection. You can also choose the new Festival of Fantasy parade and Wishes Nighttime Spectacular as FastPass+ experiences, if you like.

My advice is to arrive at park opening if you can, and head for Fantasyland, where there are some classic attractions for little ones like the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Peter Pan's Flight. For a two-year-old, if you're not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, I'd also recommend bringing a stroller. If you have one that he can nap in, even better. Sounds like you're planning a long day.

Julia, there's so much more we could talk about! The Walt Disney World website has a page with tips for visiting with preschoolers, so you can check that out, too. I hope this info helps you. Wishing your family a magical vacation!

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
