We are planning our first trip for our girls (2 and 5) after Thanksgiving. We want to stay on the monorail line but were only able to get into the Contemporary. I've heard such great things about the Polynesian - is the Contemporary comparable?

Hi, Heather! I can't decide if you're lucky or not to have me answer your question -- my favorite WDW resort is The Contemporary! It was the first resort I stayed in when I was little, and it has been the site of really great memories over the years for me. Nostalgia aside, you can't beat the location, and it houses some of the best dining and shopping in WDW. Do you realize that it's the only resort that allows you walking access to Magic Kingdom? And it's the first monorail stop on the way "home" when you're the most tired!

California Grill sits atop the resort and has been repeatedly awarded as one of the top restaurants in all of Florida...and let me tell ya, that's a lot of good eating! Chef Mickey's is a breakfast and dinner character buffet which features the Big Cheese himself, and The Wave has become our new favorite casual table-service restaurant. The Contemporary's marina is also home to the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage -- which is a great special event featuring Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and Peter Pan. The monorail runs through the tower of the resort, and each view from the main building offers up-close views of the Magic Kingdom or the lake. Each side can view the Electrical Water Pageant and/or the fireworks from guest rooms. The decor is sleek and stylish, and the concourse shopping is fabulous. You just feel like you're in the hub of activity, yet relaxed and removed when you're in your resort room.

In all fairness, I have to give the nod to the Polynesian's Volcano pool. Still, I have to fall back on the three rules of real estate: no other Disney resort can beat The Contemporary on location, location, location!

I hope that I've at least got you excited about the great reservation you scored, and let me know if you have more questions about it or any other aspect of WDW. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
