    We are planning our first trip to DW in October of this year. I have 4 kids ranging from 7 to infant. Where is the best place to stay with the convenience of getting back to hotel for naps etc.. I honestly don't know where to start with the planning.

    Clare,

    I know EXACTLY where you are coming from. This is what my wife and I have lived through (though with just two kids) for the last several years. Here are some basic pointers;

    1. Based on your kids ages, most of your activity will be at the Magic Kingdom. Therefore resorts near there are your best bet.
    2. Being on the monorail (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian) is faster than anything else, with the Contemporary the best of all choices, since you can also walk there.
    3. If budgets don't allow these fairly expensive options, then next step down in cost, but still with a transportation convenience, is the Wilderness Lodge. You get there via boat.
    4. If Moderates are your preference, go with Coronado Springs.
    5. If Value is your choice, I would consider the Family Suites at the Art of Animation, otherwise the All Star Sports resort.
    This gives you an option for all stages along the budget spectrum. Now don't let the planning freak you out. I am here to help, and I will be there in October too, so I am planning right there with you. Write me back with any follow up questions. Topics you might want to consider include;
    • What parks to go to on what day?
    • What table service dining to reserve?
    • Where should we go for counter service meals?
    Have a magical vacation!
