    Ashley from LA Asked

We are planning our first trip to DW, our daughter will be 7. We have heard mixed reviews on the value resorts, but they seem to be the most fun looking for a child. My question is, what is the best resort for first timers with a young child?

    Ashley:

Yours is the same question my husband and I pondered when we wanted to take our three children who were 7, 5, and 3 at the time to Disney with the grandparents. We decided on All-Star Movies, requesting the Toy Story buildings. The tall statues of Buzz Lightyear and Woody were all we needed to make the resort seem "deluxe" in our books. Although it was only our second time at Disney, now looking back, I'm thankful that we didn't choose a more expensive resort for this stay. It's hard to go from a Deluxe hotel back to Value because if you haven't tasted the proximity to the parks or literally the better quick service food, the All-Stars are a good choice for a first visit. Additionally, because the Value Resorts have smaller rooms, they were the right size for us at the time for our children's ages. Now, with two of the boys nearing 6-feet-tall and my daughter and me taking turns with the hair dryer, the Value Resorts aren't our best option.

If you're driving in from Louisiana, all the more reason to feel confident in choosing a Value Resort. You won't have to rely on the buses to the parks and can drive back for an afternoon rest time to enjoy the evenings in the parks.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
