I am planning our first trip to Disneyworld soon. We have never been and I get a little overwhelmed trying to plan it. What is the best way to go about planning our trip from the flight to park passes to hotels?

    Hi Vanessa,

I absolutely love hearing from people who are planning their first visit to Walt Disney World. As someone who's made so many wonderful memories there, it's exciting for me to think about all the memories you'll soon be making for yourself.

With respect to being overwhelmed, I completely understand. There are a lot of options to consider, but I think your best bet for simplification would be to book your vacation through DisneyWorld.com or by calling one of Disney's vacation planners at (407) 939-1936.

(While I really like the convenience of the website, I'm the kind of guy that likes to speak to live human beings when possible. So, calling the vacation planners is the route I use most often.)

Either of those resources can be one-stop shops for all of your vacation planning needs. Once you select the days you'd like to visit and the resort hotel that you'd like to stay in, you can then add on theme park admission, and a dining plan. You can even bundle your airfare and arrange for ground transportation all in one shot.

Here are a few tips from your buddy Derek:

    1) With respect to resort hotels, you can't go wrong with any of the choices on Disney property. Disney is famous for it's world-class service, so it's really just a matter of budget and the experience you'd like to enjoy. (My personal favorite is Disney's Polynesian Resort!)

    2) With respect to theme park tickets, I recommend getting the Park Hopper Option. That way, you can visit more than one theme park each day.

    3) With respect to dining plans, they aren't required but they certainly offer a great value for the money.

This is really just the tip of the iceberg, so I would certainly welcome you to write back with any questions you may have as you take the next steps in planning your upcoming vacation. I'd be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
