We are planning our first trip to Disney World with our 7 and 9 year old girls this November. We have family members staying in the Contemporary. We wanted to stay in the moderate range. Any suggestions?

    Jennifer:

If you were going to Disney World in more warmer weather, I'd recommend Caribbean Beach Resort with its well-theme pirate pool, brightly colored buildings, and sandy beach areas.  However, November brings cooler, slightly more unpredictable weather, so my recommendation in the moderate range would be Port Orleans French Quarter.

The Mardi Gras feel of the hotel is not lost on the young set, and its pool slide won't disappoint if the weather is warm enough to take a dip.  What gives it a leg up over the other Moderates is its lush landscaping which is on par with a Deluxe hotel and its boat to Downtown Disney.  Just in case there is any comparision to your family's accommodations, the pool is on par with the Contemporary's, the landscaping is better and the boat is an attraction itself, like the monorail.

FYI: You might want to check out the Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodge, too. Although they are certainly not moderates, they're what I'd call a semi-deluxe because they don't have the same proximity to the parks that the deluxes do, and their rates tend to be lower than the deluxes, also.  If your girls like animals, a Savannah View room at the AK might fit the bill!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
