We are planning our first trip to Disney. We have a son who is 7 and a daughter who is 5. Where is the best place to stay for us in the value to moderate resorts? Is the meal plan worth it? Can the meal plan be used at the parks or just resorts? Thanks.

    Hi Traci!

The best Walt Disney World Value Resort in my opinion is Pop Century.  It has the best food court on property and it has the best bus service.  It only has one bus stop and it doesn't share buses with any other resorts, though that may change with the opening next year of Disney's Art of Animation Resort.  That's because the two hotels are located very close to each other.

The best Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside.  The next best is Port Orleans French Quarter.  The other Moderate Resorts are much too large in my opinion, though some guests would disagree.  I love the theming of Riverside, especially the Alligator Bayou section.  I also love the boat service it has to Downtown Disney; the boat ride is very relaxing, especially at night.  By the way, in a recent unofficial Moms Panel poll, Riverside was voted as the best Moderate Resort.

The Disney Dining Plan can be used throughout Walt Disney World.  However, I can't answer your question of whether it is worth it.  It really depends on how your family dines and what each person might order off a menu.  Some guests save a lot of money by being on a Disney Dining Plan, some guests save a little, and some actually spend more!  However, I do have a recommendation.  i recommend visiting the independent website AllEars.Net.  The team at All Ears does a great job keeping their information up to date.  There you will find all  of the menus, including prices, for all of the restaurants at Walt Disney World.  Then you can do the math and determine if being on a Disney Dining Plan is the right thing for your family!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
