We are planning our first trip to Disney for June 2014. My triplets will be 6 1/2 years old. I know we want to do the Cinderalla Royal Table, but would love any tips, ideas, for character dining or the dinner shows. I have 2 girls and a boy. Thanks!

    Hi Kim,

June 2014 and 6 1/2 year old triplets sounds like a wonderful vacation you will have! I hope you have a great time.

One tip not related to dining is around your park tickets. I recommend you just purchase the Magic Your Way base ticket without the Park Hopper option. Your children are still young and it is your first trip. Stay and explore just one park a day. This way you can see all the little extras you would miss if you were trying to maximize the price of the ticket.

As for dining tips, you will need to be on the phone at the 180 day mark to make a reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table. This is one of the most difficult reservations to make because everyone wants to dine in a castle. If this does not work out, try dining in Norway at Akershus. This is a great character meal for your family to enjoy. My favorite character meal is 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian for dinner. It is where Cinderella dines for dinner with friends and family. I love it!

My favorite dinner show is the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness. It is a great show for the whole family. If you can not get tickets here, try dining at Whispering Canyon Cafe. The food is similar and it kinda is like a "show". There is always something crazy happening here.

Finally, I recommend no more than two character meals a trip. I personally feel it becomes too repetitive. There are so many other dining options available I want guests to experience them. In addition, my family learned how to dine at fancy restaurants at Disney. While no guest has the license to be completely over the top at any restaurant, it is nice that Disney can appreciate the occasional slip in manners as young dinners learn to use all the extra silver and service that comes at these restaurants.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
