We are planning our first trip to Disney during Spring Break ( March 30-April 4). What can I expect during this time of year? I am traveling with a 10 yr old, 7 yr old, & 22 month.

Hello Erin, thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. First trips are so exciting! I was too young to remember the first time I ever saw Cinderella's Castle, but I will never forget seeing the look on my son's face after we entered the Magic Kingdom. I'm sure you'll make some great memories on your family's first Walt Disney World vacation.

A couple of years ago I traveled with my then 2 year-old-son during Spring Break. My experience was that it was very crowded, and very hot. Foolishly, I didn't bring a stroller as I planned on renting one as soon as I got there. Big mistake. I highly suggest that you bring a small umbrella stroller for your youngest child. After walking around and standing in lines in the hot Florida sun all day you get exhausted very quickly, especially if your child likes to be held. When the park closed we had to stand in long lines waiting for a bus and I didn't have a stroller. My feet were dead at this point, and I was carrying my sleeping toddler. Lesson learned!

I also recommend that you purchase cheap ponchos for each member of your family before you leave on your vacation. You never know when an afternoon rain shower will appear. I saved a lot of money by purchasing ponchos beforehand and we used a poncho almost every single day that we were there. Ponchos also come in handy on water rides like Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids.

To beat the crowd I suggest taking advantage of Disney's FastPass+ service. I have always experienced a shorter wait time in the FastPass+ lane. In between FastPass+ selections you can always take a break with a refreshing Dole Whip or Mickey Bar in the shade.

Many families travel to Walt Disney World during Spring Break, but with a little pre-planning, you should be able to beat the heat and the crowd.

If you have any more questions please feel free to stop by and we'd be happy to help. Have a magical day!
