Hi, I am planning my first trip to Disney in August with my 7 (ADHD) and 17 (Autism) year old. Can you use DAC for Fantasmic or Jedi Training? Please share any good tips for this first timer. Thank you

    Hi Marilyn ~

As a mom of a son with special needs, I love to see that you're planning ahead. The Walt Disney World Resort is committed to assisting Guests with all of types of special needs including those with autism. They have put together A Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that is available online by clicking on the link I've provided you. That will give you some great information that will help you before and during your trip. You can request Disability Access Service (DAS) for your kids by visiting Guest Relations at any of the four theme parks. Cast Members will ask you some questions so that they can best accommodate their specific needs.

Since Fantasmic! is performed at set times, they do not issue DAS return times. Speak to a Cast Member as you enter the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater and ask to sit someplace that would allow you to exit quickly if needed. I would bring headphones or ear plugs if they are sensitive to noises.

The number of spots for Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple is limited and there is a set schedule of times each day. Sign ups are on a first-come, first-served basis so you will not be able to use DAS. Padawans between the ages of 4 and 12 are invited to participate. I would recommend arriving at Disney's Hollywood Studios as early as possible. That way you could check availability and pick an available time that you think would work best for your 7 year old. Speak to the Cast Members with any concerns when you sign up and again when you come back at the designated time.

I am limited in space but please come back with all of your planning questions. Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
