We are planning our first trip for December 2013. We will not be staying on the property. We will be there for about 8 days. Other than our hotel I have no idea where to start in planning this trip. I will be traveling with my husband and 2 kids.

    Hi Christine!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

The good news is you have plenty of time to plan and organize for your trip in December 2013.  You really want to have a good plan together by about 7 months before and that's only if you want to get into the most popular Table Service restaurants at Walt Disney World on particular days and at specific times.

The first step is figuring out when you want to go and where you want to stay so it sounds like you are all set in that department.  You then want to put together a rough plan on what you will be doing on each day.  That will help you decide where to dine if you want to dine at Table Service (full service) restaurants.  Walt Disney World has some outstanding Table Service restaurants and many of them will fill up long before you arrive for your vacation; thus making reservations as far out in advance as possible is important.  Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance which is why I mentioned before that having a good plan before then is important.

I suggest picking up a good tour book to help you get started.  I recommend "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a beautiful book full of color photographs.  Another great book is "PassPorter's Walt Disney World" by Dave and Jennifer Marx.  Both books are great for first time visitors as they are full of information but are not overwhelming.  They will both give you a good feel for everything there is to do at Walt Disney World.

Our responses are limited in length, but I hope this helps to get you started.  I would be happy to help you more!  Just send in more questions; you can direct them to me or to any other panelist!
