We are planning our first three-generation WDW vacation! My husband & our boys (now 11 & 19) have gone several times. Nieces/nephews are 15, 12, 9, 2-parents plus Grandma. Ideas please! How to plan months ahead for doing things together at appoint

    Hi Becky,

Have no fear-planning for 10 is fun!  The first thing I would do is talk to everyone and determine what their expectation is of the trip.  Will you all be staying at the same resort, will you spend 24 hours a day together and what one or two items are a must see on the trip?  The answers to these questions ahead of time will reduce potential heartache at the end of the trip.

Once you have this information, you can then plan your trip.  If you all want to be in the same resort, make sure you request adjoining rooms if you want families to move freely between rooms.  You may also want to look into renting a villa which could accommodate all 10 people and provide you with access to a kitchen which could allow you to save money by having meals in your room.  My family did this when 10 of us went and stayed at the Boardwalk Villas.

When it comes to dining, determine if you must eat every meal together.  We agreed we would eat all of our dinners together.  What I did was print on an 3x5 card the name of the restaurant, location, date, time and advance dining reservation number and handed them to all the adults (Our children were under 7 at the time so they were not going anywhere without one adult.).  This allowed a little freedom in traveling, and if we got split up, we knew where to meet.

If all ten of you are going to be eating together, you may be challenged to get all of you at the same table.  They may tell you they have two tables of five available and they will put you as close to each other as possible.  Disney does a good job of accommodating larger parties especially if you say you are a part of a Grand Gathering which you are because you have more than eight people staying on property.

I would also check out the Grand Gathering events which may at the special memory to this special trip.

    Enjoy!
