I am planning our first Disney World trip this fall (October 2015) for my family of 4...hubby & 2 girls, ages 9 and 6. Currently there is the discount on room and the meal plan deal. What is the better option? I am assuming the two can't be combined

    Hi Sheri,

We're so glad that you put your trust in us to help you with planning your first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort.  You have already made one of the major decisions and have decided on an October vacation which is a perfect time of year to visit.  Two other decisions left; where to stay and the Disney Dining Plan.  It's always hard to recommend either a room discount or free dining because we don't know which will work better for your family.  Thankfully, there are outside resources who have designed websites to help you with that choice.  Distripplanner.com has a calculator that can determine the cost of your meals versus the dining plan and you can then compare those costs to your room costs.

Once you have gotten over this hurdle, you can then start thinking about Fast Pass +Memory Maker and Advanced Dining Reservations which are the fun part of your trip planning.  I would start on your dining reservations since you are already within the 180 day window to be able to make them.  Reservations are always recommended for the more popular restaurants such as Be Our Guest and for any character meals.

We've got you started on the right path for planning that magical vacation.  If we can provide additional guidance, please let us know.
