Planning our first Disney visit with my husband and 3 kids (14, 9, & 6). What is the best place to stay that's moderately priced? What kind of passes/food plans should we get? We would like visit 3 different parks. We'll be staying 4 nights/ 5 days.

    Hi Maria!

My family's favorite Moderate resort is Port Orleans Riverside.  My family, including my 11 and 6 year old boys, enjoys the theming of the Alligator Bayou section of that resort.  They also enjoy the pool area there and the relatively long water slide.  You may also enjoy Port Orleans French Quarter which is much smaller and also has a nice pool, but their water slide is much shorter than the one at Riverside, and I think older children would rather be at Riverside.  However, if you stay at either of the Port Orleans resorts, you can enjoy the amenities and services of the other; you just have to walk or ride the boat between them. If you go with Port Orleans Riverside, my favorite buildings are 14 and 18 in the Alligator Bayou section as they are close to the food court, restaurant, main lobby, and pool area.

From your question, I don't know if you plan on going to the parks on the day you arrive and/or the day you leave.  So I'm not sure how many days you should get, but look at the prices when you make that decision.  The first couple of days cost a lot and then the price goes for extra days.  With regards to the Park Hopper option, I suggest waiting until you are there unless you already know you want to visit more than one park on the same day.  With regards to a Disney Dining Plan, some guests save a lot of money, some a little bit, and some not at all.  I suggest looking at the various menus for the places you would like to eat at and comparing the prices to the price of a Dining Plan.  A great place to see the menus is at the independent website AllEars.Net.  They do a great job keeping up to date!

Enjoy planning your trip and write back if you have any more questions!
