We are planning our first Disney vacation with our incredibly young family. Our daugher will be 2 1/2 and our son will be 11 months at the time we hope to go. Any suggestions for hotels, plans, etc? I appreciate any help you can give!

    Hi Rebecca,

Helping guests plan their first Disney vacation with new family members is so exciting!  Thanks for posting your question to the Moms Panel.

If it is within your budget, I heartily encourage you to select a resort in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World.  Those on the monorail (like Disney's Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian Resorts) are just minutes away from the Magic Kingdom.  That's the theme park, in my opinion, that your kids will most enjoy at their tender ages.  If you stay at one of these resorts, you can zip back to your hotel room mid-day for naptime.  You don't even need to fold up your strollers to ride the monorail.

Another fabulous resort (my favorite, in fact) in the Magic Kingdom area of resorts is Disney's Wilderness Lodge. This resort is wonderfully themed. Little boys, in particular, love to explore this rustic, National Parks-themed wonderland. It is not on the monorail line to the Magic Kingdom but the complimentary bus ride from this resort takes only 4 minutes.  (Yes, I've actually timed it!) It is generally much less expensive than the other three resorts I've mentioned so definitely check it out.

There's much magic to discover with little ones at Walt Disney World.  My two biggest tips for first-time visitors with infants and toddlers are to 1) call (407) WDW-DINE in advance to book at least one character dining experience so that your kids have the chance to meet the Disney characters up close and personal and 2) keep your kids on their sleep schedule as best as possible.  Everyone will enjoy the vacation more if they are well rested.

If you have any additional questions as you make your vacation plans, don't hesitate to come back and ask.  We'd love to help!
