We are planning our first Disney vacation for April. 2016, there are two adults and four children, what is the first thing i should do

    Heather:

Well, you've already done the first thing I recommend to folks: you've chosen your dates. The next step, in my opinion, is to decide at which resort you want to stay. With a family of six, like mine, here are my suggestions:

    • Beach Club: A two-bedroom villa at Beach Club would be my suggestion for your family if you do not have to watch your budget. Here, you are within walking distance of BOTH Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot however, if you're tired, you've also got boat transportation. With a large family, sometimes you can't please everyone and so being close to your hotel may allow you to take the younger ones back to your hotel room for naps while the older ones stay in the park. Best of all, April brings warm weather to enjoy its fun pool complex that boasts sandy bottoms and a great slide.
    • Fort Wilderness Cabin: Our family considers the fort our home away from home and allows us to spread out much more than a hotel room. Each cabin has a deck and a grill and lots of room for the little ones to run around outside. With a separate bedroom, you can tuck in the younger ones at night while you enjoy the living and dining area. The full kitchen helps make the expense of meals more affordable for our group, too. I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of my boy's favorite things about a cabin: two televisions.
    • Art of Animation: Two standard rooms at a Value resort provide the cheapest way to stay on property but if you can, upgrade to the standard rooms at the Art of Animation. The resort provides all the theming that most young children know as Disney, from Cars to Nemo and the Little Mermaid. Two bathrooms will make for easier mornings but be aware that Disney doesn't guarantee connecting rooms.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
