We are planning our first Disney cruise but due to availability are going to have to cruise in July. We are going to the Bahamas. I am afraid that it will be too hot to enjoy the outdoor activities. How has the temperture been for summer cruising?

    Hi, Jennifer!

My family and I have taken a Disney cruise in July, and although it is quite warm, it certainly makes all the water sports and activities much more enjoyable. One of the most wonderful things about summers in the islands is that constant breeze -- making 80-90 F degree weather so much more bearable. Plus, on the ship, there's almost always a breeze!

If I can give you a little advice for avoiding the heat, I would avoid stagnate times on deck where many people are gathered.  For instance, for the sail-away party, I would rather book a spa experience or have my own celebration on my stateroom's verandah. You also may want to experience the pools and water slides once you're at sea -- instead of at a port.  When you book Port Adventures, look for those that involve water, and remember to bring sunscreen, hats, shoes for hot sand/decks and sunglasses. Order room service on the morning you're docking at Castaway Cay and be of the first off the boat to explore the island. Find a great place in the shade and stake out your hammock!

I hope this helps you plan and relieves any concerns you may have! You're cruising at a fabulous time of the year! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
