We are planning a family vacation for my parents' anniversary. My 12-year-old is vision and hearing impaired (as well as other issues), so we have always used the DAC. We would like to sit next our family for the shows. Is this possible?

Hi, Heidi!  Thanks for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Like you, I am also the mom of a child with special needs.  I can tell you from personal experience that one of the most wonderful things about Walt Disney World is how they do such a great job of making the magic accessible to everyone.

It sounds like you are already somewhat familiar with Walt Disney World's services for guests with disabilities, but you may want to take a look at the Walt Disney World website to read up on all of the services and access options that are available to help your kiddo have an amazing vacation experience.  In addition to a listing of services, you will also find contact information for Disability Services in the link provided here.  This will be a great resource for you should you have additional questions as you prepare for your Walt Disney World visit.

Walt Disney World offers many services for guests with both visual disabilities and hearing disabilities.  When you arrive at one of the theme parks, you can stop at Guest Relations to look into your options.  Guest Relations has handheld devices for both video captioning and audio description to assist guests at various attractions and shows.  These devices are available on a first-come, first-served basis for a fully refundable deposit.  Perhaps these devices would help your child enjoy shows while sitting with your entire group.

Heidi, if we can help you with anything else, like suggestions for a special anniversary surprise for your parents, please visit us again.  Have a magical day!
