We are planning a family vacation during the summer months of 2013. What is the best time to travel and advantages and disadvantages of each time? We have a group of 8 w/ 2 kids age 8 and 2. Can a villa accommodate 8? Thanks!

    Hi Kari,

How exciting to be planning a Disney family vacation!

Yes, a two-bedroom Villa can comfortably accommodate 8-9 people (depending on which resort you choose). In fact, my family of 7 plus my mother have stayed in them many times.

You've chosen a popular (busy) time of year for your vacation. If your summer schedule is wide open, I recommend the last week of August. We went during that time in 2008 and the crowds were quite manageable as compared to the July crowds. You'll definitely want to avoid the 4th of July week as you will encounter peak crowds during that time.

You'll want to keep in mind that Florida is hot in the summer. As a New Englander, I find it quite uncomfortable to be honest. That being said, there are ways to handle the heat. You'll want to opt for the Water Parks Fun & More Option on your pass. This will allow you to escape the mid-day heat with trips to the fabulous water parks - Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. You also will want to factor in some pool time during the hottest points in each day.

Hope this helps and please let us know if we can assist you further!

    Have fun planning,
