Planning a Disney World trip for end of May. This time we are bringing my Mom that is turning 80 in September. I’m very concerned about mobility and her get getting around the parks. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hello there, Susan! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We appreciate you taking the time to stop by and ask your wonderful Walt Disney World Resort vacation question!

As someone that must also navigate mobility concerns when visiting the parks, I know firsthand just how stressful it can be to plan walking-heavy vacations. Fortunately, Walt Disney World Resort does a phenomenal job providing services and accommodations for their Guests with all kinds of disabilities!

My number one tip would be to rent your mother a wheelchair or ECV for the duration of your stay! I know that this can feel quite stressful to do this but I cannot stress how much this can improve your entire vacation experience! You can rent ECV and wheelchairs at the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. If you are interested in using an ECV or wheelchair outside of these locations, I would suggest renting your mobility device through one of the Disney Featured Providers. These local companies allow Guests to rent mobility devices for the duration of their stay and even deliver right to your Disney Resort hotel!

My second tip would be to plan scheduled downtime during your days, particularly when visiting the parks! During my own vacations, I always make a point to return to my Disney Resort hotel room for a nap in the afternoons. This helps me rest before an evening of even more fun! If you don't want to return to your Disney Resort hotel, you can always make an Advanced Dining Reservation at a Table Service Dining Location. This way, you and your family have the chance to sit in an air-conditioned area and enjoy a relaxing meal!

I hope these tips will assist you and your family in having a magical time visiting Walt Disney World Resort with your mother!
