We're planning to use the Dining Plan on a trip to WDW in November. When I think of counter service restaurants I can't figure out whom to tip (since it's no longer included) b/c I remember carrying my own trays of food after ordering. Can you help?

There is no need to tip anyone at counter service restaurants. The whole premise of counter service is that you are basically serving yourself. You go up to a line and order your food, get your tray, and carry it to a table yourself. There is no one in the transaction that you would need to offer a gratuity.

On the other hand, you will need to tip at table service restaurants. These are meals, including buffets, where you are shown to a particular table by a host or hostess. You sit down and are then greeted by a server who will take your beverage order. The server will take your food order and bring you food if you are at a menu-based restaurant. Or, if you are at a buffet restaurant, the server will explain the items on the buffet line and clear your plates between your courses. These servers are working hard to enhance your dining experience and they definitely should be tipped.

    Hope this helps.
