Planning on a Dec 25-Jan 1, 2014 trip next year. I know it's a busy time of year at WDW. How early would you recommend booking to guarantee a room at a value resort? Also, how are the crowds compared to August? Thanks!

    Hi Amanda,

I love that you are planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resorts for next Christmas now. You can book a room only reservation 499 days in advance but you may not get exact pricing now. Prices for rooms will be know in 2014.

I would say you are safe to book after the new year. I just looked now for this year and was able to find a room at the value resorts at a few locations.

As for busy, it is the most busiest time of the year! The crowds are large and the parks have been known to close to guests because they have reached capacity. You will need to make Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) as close to the 180 mark to get the restaurants you want to dine in if there are must do favorites.

August crowds, even the ones at the beginning of the month, are not as crowded as this time period.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
