We are planning a cruise on February 22-27, it is our first Disney cruise and I need to know if my daughters, 9 and 8 need passports. Can you provide some guidance.

Welcome aboard, Patricia! Congratulations on your very first sailing with Disney Cruise Line! With just a few weeks left until you board the ship, you must already have a countdown started!

You didn't mention which sailing you'll be enjoying with Disney Cruise Line, but in looking at the itineraries, I'm guessing you'll be on the Disney Magic's five night sailing from Miami to the Bahamas, which includes Marvel Day at Sea. That's a great itinerary, and includes a visit to my favorite beach, Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. Since this is a closed loop itinerary, meaning you begin and end at the same port in the United States, as U.S. citizens, you won't need passports, but if it weren't so close to the sail date, I'd recommend getting passports for your girls anyway. I say that because it's always better to sail with passports so that in the event of a sickness or emergency in a foreign port of call, you can more easily fly home. However, since it's almost time to set sail, you certainly can skip it this time.

Check out the Travel Documents page of Disney Cruise Line's website for details on what you'll need to sail. As you can see, the girls simply need their state-issued birth certificates (not hospital-issued) when sailing with you as their parents. Guests age 16 and older need those birth certificates as well as a government-issued I.D., like a driver's license. So, be sure you and your husband are prepared with those if you don't have your own passports.

Have the most magical and amazing experience onboard the Magic and in the Bahamas, Patricia!
