We are planning a cruise on the Disney Dream in July 2012 and wanted to know if there is babysitting or childrens activities onboard while we are docked at the ports. Also, My son has just turned 5, and is EXTREMELY active: do the staff handle such kids?

Hello to another mother of an EXTREMELY active son!  How's it going for you?!?!

Janet, the first thing I have to tell you is that the Disney Dream is a magnificent ship.  There is so much to do for children, adults, and families alike.  In fact, I think that the kids have the most fun of all!  You get to have your own free time to enjoy whatever you wish, even if it is a 3 hour nap!

I can tell you (from experience) that your son won't want to see you most of the time, and when he does, he'll be asking you when he can go back to his club.  My son did exactly that to me when he was 5 and sailing on his first Disney cruise.  He's almost 11 now and continues to do the same. That leaves the adults to have a blast too.

Yes, you can leave your son onboard the ship in the youth club while you are enjoying a port.  There are activities still going on in the clubs so he'll still be taken care of, and very well, I want to add.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.  I'm always happy to help another mom have a great time!  Have a wonderful trip.

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
