Planning a cruise for December. Are the ships decorated for Christmas like WDW? And what is the difference between the decks on the ship? First time cruising Disney and bringing young grandchildren. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Ahoy Carrie!
Any time is magical on a Disney Cruise, but sailing in December will be extra magical for you and your grands!  The ship will be stunning with its twinkling lights, gorgeous greenery, and beautiful bows from stem to stern!  The Grand Lobby Atrium's 20 foot tall Christmas tree will be the perfect backdrop for your holiday photos this year!  This past season, life-sized Gingerbread Houses were created by the ship's amazing culinary teams similar to what you find at the Walt Disney World Resorts.  Not only will the festive decor put you in the holiday spirit, but special holiday themed events and activities will be planned.  One you don't want to miss is creating your own gingerbread house which is free, but a ticket is required because space is limited.  Be sure to stop by Guest Services upon boarding for tickets for your crew.  My other favorite part of cruising during December is seeing all your favorite Disney characters in their holiday attire!  Again, more great pictures opportunities that you will be able to treasure for years to come!
As far as decks go, it really is a personal preference on which deck you select for your stateroom.  I've stayed low to mid on most of my sailings and never had a problem using the elevator or the stairs to move from deck to deck.  My next cruise I've chosen to stay a bit higher on Deck Nine since my crew spends a lot of time on the pool deck!  If you are worried about the motion of the boat, a lower deck, Midship stateroom is a great choice.  The main dining rooms, theaters, shopping, adult entertainment areas, most lounges and kids' programming is all found on the lower decks while the casual eating options, adult-only dining, spa/salon, fitness center, pool areas, and recreation are on the high decks.
I'm about out of room, Carrie.  Please write back if I can help you further with your holiday sailing plans!
Have a magical day and happy planning!
