Hi I am planning on coming to WDW in 2011 would you recommend february or october for a visit? Will be coming with 69yr old mum and 2 ds 9 and 6. We wont be driving when there so which hotel would you recommend? On a bit of a budget as I am a single parent

    Jo:

Because you're on a budget, I'd recommend February without blinking an eye. October is regular season, but many dates in February (except for President's Weekend) are value season, and that brings cheaper hotel rates and can help pay for a hotel upgrade.

Your party of four can stay in any Disney hotel, and you can take Disney transportation from every hotel on property. The value hotels provide your cheapest accommodations and are a fine choice if you won't be spending much time in them. If you want to step up, the moderate Port Orleans Riverside provides boat transportation to Downtown Disney and, for the price, is one of Disney's best values. Both the value and moderate hotels only have bus transportation to the parks.

If you're looking for an inexpensive way to stay near the parks, consider the Swan & Dolphin hotels. Both are on Magical Express from the airport and both are on the Boardwalk, but for a fraction of the cost of the Disney Deluxe hotels. You can walk to either Disney's Hollywood Studios or Epcot or take a boat. Your boys would enjoy the Boardwalk area at night, too. The only downside is that you can't purchase the Disney dining plan at the hotel, but if you're on a budget, that may not be a consideration anyway.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
