We are planning a 16th birthday trip for our daughter this August. Is there anything special we can experience? I am aware of the pins at each park.... anything else? Thanks!

My biggest tip for celebrating birthdays at Disney World is, "Tell everyone." The first way to do this, as you know, is to pick up a free "Today is My Birthday" pin, available at the Guest Relations offices in the theme parks (also at many ticket windows). It's amazing how many cast members, and even other guests, will give you an extra smile or hello if they know it's your special day. Beyond the pin, let your servers know at all your meals, many times this will get you a free cupcake or an extra hug from a character. Be sure to let the front desk of your hotel know as well. They can't guarantee it, but often the hotels will arrange for a birthday balloon, card, or other small gift to be left in the room. If you yourself want to plan a special gift for your daughter, try contacting Disneyflorist.com to arrange for a gift basket delivery, or call 407-828-3104 (Goofy's Candy Company) to have a cake made.  For an over-the-top birthday surprise, you could even call your resort and arrange for a private meeting between your daughter and her favorite character. Hey, you're only Sweet 16 once!
